Historical Chipper Jones Milestones
One of the game’s all-time greats, Chipper Jones was a mainstay at third base for the Atlanta Braves from 1993 to 2012. He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2018 and had his number retired by the Atlanta Braves. Chipper Jones helped the Braves reach the postseason twelve times, including 3 NL pennants and a memorable World Series win in 1995. As a franchise with so many Hall of Fame legends, Chipper is among those greats as the Braves retired No. 10 jersey.
Chipper Jones was the rare hitter who could hit for both power and average at a high level. He finished his career with a .303 batting average, winning the NL batting title in 2008 by hitting .364. He holds the record for NL switch hitters for home runs in a season (with 45 in 1999) and over a career (486 total). Chipper Jones hit 20 or more home runs in each of his first 14 seasons in the majors, tying a record set by fellow Braves legend Eddie Mathews. He was named the 1999 NL MVP, appeared in eight All-Star games, and was the NL Silver Slugger at third base twice.
