Historical Milestones
There may never be another player that will be as good of a third baseman as Brooks Robinson was during his 23-year career. Known as "The Human Vacuum Cleaner" or "Mr. Hoover" for his play at third base, Robinson won 16 consecutive gold gloves. Just because Robinson was incredible with the glove, does not mean he was a slouch with the bat. Robinson won an MVP in 1964 and finished his career just 152 hits shy of 3,000 with 2,848 hits.
Robinson won a staggering sixteen Gold Glove Awards during his career, which is the most for a third baseman in MLB history. This eighteen-time All-star won the 1964 AL MVP Award, hitting 28 home runs, posting a .317 batting average, and leading the American League with 118 RBIs that season. As a member of the Orioles, he won World Series titles in 1966 and 1970, even winning the 1970 World Series MVP Award. In 1983 this legend was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame, capturing 92% of the vote.
