Historical Milestones
Archie Manning is probably more known now as the father of future Hall of Famers Peyton Manning and Eli Manning, but he was a great quarterback in his own right. Manning played his college football at Ole Miss being the starting quarterback for three seasons. During his career at Ole Miss, he threw for 4,753 yards and 31 touchdowns and was named All-SEC in 1969 and 1970, while also being named the SEC Player of the Year in 1969. In 1971, the Saints picked Archie Manning with the second overall pick.
While Manning had nine losing seasons in his 10 years as the starting quarterback with the Saints, he did not play with a lot of talent around him and garnered a lot of respect among his peers. Manning was sacked a ridiculous 337 times during his time in New Orleans and many believe that number could have been higher if not for Manning avoiding sacks. Archie threw for 21,734 yards during his career in New Orleans and was named to two Pro Bowls in 1978 and 1979.
Fans of Archie Manning will always appreciate what he did in New Orleans despite the fact that it did not lead to much winning. Manning was still clearly a good quarterback during his era and was inducted into the New Orleans Saints Hall of Fame and Ring of Honor following his retirement. Now his fans can find amazing autographed collectibles that will highlight the best moments of Manning’s career. These signed pieces of memorabilia are 100% certified authentic and will only increase in value over time.
