A member of the Baseball Hall of Fame, Gary Edmund Carter had established himself as one of the premier catchers of the National League. Carter had won Three Golden Glove awards and five Silver Slugger Awards. Being drafted in the team in 1972, Carter game was greatly appreciated. He was selected in the National Team All-Star Teams as a right fielder. The player had bagged 17 home runs 68 runs finishing second to John Montefusco. Carter earned Sporting News Rookie of the Year Award in 1975. In his entire career Carter had played more than 2000 games and had hit more than 300 home runs. Recent news revealed that Carter after his retirement served as an analyst for Florida Marlins television Broadcast. He made a short appearance in a Hollywood movie, The Last Home Run in 1998. He was later elected to the New York Mets Hall of Fame in 2001 and to the Canadian baseball hall of Fame in 2003. Carter.
