The Texas Rangers, based out of Arlington, Texas, are a member of the Western Division of the Major League Baseball’s American League. Originally the new expansion Washington Senators, the ball club moved from D.C. to the Dallas area for the 1972 season and became the team now known as the Texas Rangers. Since 1994 they’ve been playing their baseball at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas.
Despite not winning a World Series title, the Rangers have been one of the most dominant ball clubs of the 1990's, 2000's, and 2010's. They've made six appearances in the MLB postseason, five of which are division championships in 1996, 1998, 1999, 2010 and 2011 and the last being a wild card berth in 2012. In 2010, they advanced past the Division Series for the first time, defeating the Tampa Bay Rays. They brought home their first American League pennant after beating the New York Yankees in six games, but fell to the San Francisco Giants in five in their first ever World Series. Having won one game in that series, the Rangers became the first Texas team to win a World Series Game, since the Houston Astros were swept in their 2005 World Series appearance. They repeated as American League champions the following year and lost to the St. Louis Cardinals in seven games in the 2011 World Series. The Rangers have a number of superstar players like Yu Darvish and Prince Fielder that will surely lead the team to their first World Series victory and many more years of success in Dallas.
