Christened as the Tampa Bay Rays by Stuart Sternberg in 2007, this new team of all star players was considered to create waves in the coming seasons. Their line-up of impressive new players included Matt Garza, Evan Longoria and Edwin Jackson who changed the team’s image with best stats ever in 2008.
2009 did not prove to be a lucky start when Evan Longoria was unable to play on account of an injury he had sustained. In his place the management put in Carlos Pena and he acted as a replacement and even participated in the 2009 Home Run Derby. Other players also showed their remarkable mettle, especially Carl Crawford who took a running dive up a wall to cut off a home run. This bout of shuffling paid off and the team showed some good results in the 2010 season. One of the highlights of the season was a no-hitter by Matt Garza, the first ever no-hitter to be thrown by one of the players of the Tampa Bay Rays.
