About Sacramento Kings Apparel
The Sacramento Kings has one of the most colorful histories in the NBA league, at least in terms of its uniform. Their colorful uniform’s stories started in Rochester where the team played from 1948 to 1956. The normal uniform for basketball at the time was the short shorts and body-hugging jerseys. For seven seasons, Bob Davies was seen sporting the uniform.
When the franchise moved to Cincinnati, Ohio in 1956, they again changed their uniforms, however minimal. The team that included Jack Twyman had longer shorts and slightly looser jerseys, plus the jersey now have a different city name.
When the team moved to Kansas City in 1972, the uniform had a slight change again. From the name Cincinnati in front, it was changed to Kings. The uniform once again featured shorter shorts that typical of the 70s.
Nate “Tiny” Archibald was part of this team.
In time with their move to Sacramento in the 80s, the Kings showed off their new uniform color. Powder blue became their team color and the last name of the player was placed at the back of the jersey below the number.
Briefly, in the early 90s, the Kings had a road uniform that was a combination of purple and black. In 1995, the Kings once again changed their color scheme. From powder blue, purple became their primary uniform color. White was retained as their home color. It was during this time when
Mitch Richmond was still part of the team.
According to sources, this 2010 season the Kings again unveiled a fresh new design for their uniform in the Arden Fair Mall, where Francisco Garcia,
Beno Udrih and Jason Thompson modeled their uniforms to the delight of the fans.
The new design features a lot of black while still attempting to retain the team’s identity. The most characteristic change involves the side insert. The new uniforms also feature “KINGS” in front of their road uniform while the home uniform is white with “SACRAMENTO” in front.
