The team belongs to the North Division of the American Football Conference in the National Football League. The Pittsburgh Steelers are professional team in football that is based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. They are said to be the oldest franchise in the AFC. The team was founded in the season of 1933. Their old name was Pittsburgh Pirates and was established by Art Rooney on July 8, 1933. Until now, the team is being owned by the family of Rooney. The team is currently owned by the son of Art Rooney whose name is Dan Rooney. In the period of 1947, they were able to make playoffs for the first time. The team’s name was changed from time to time. From 1933 to 1939, they are named as the Pittsburgh Pirates, from 1940 up to the season of 1942, they are named as the Pittsburgh Steelers and then named as the Phil-Pitt Steagles in 1949 and then Card-Pitt in 1944 and was called again as the Pittsburgh Steelers from 1945 up to the present.



 
 
Known as the oldest and most championed franchise in the AFC, Pittsburgh Steelers had powerfully appears in six Super Bowls and is among the three teams in the league who have won the Super Bowl five times. The team was originally known as the Pittsburgh Pirates and had joined the NFL in the year 1933. The Steelers are currently based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and are members of the Northern Division of the American Football Conference in the National Football League.
 
In the year 1940, the team was renamed as Steelers and their name was taken from their city which is home of a prominent steel industry. The Steelers had improved their playing skills in the year 1947 and had tied for the first place in the division with the Philadelphia Eagles with an incredible 8-4 record.
