Charles Smith, a former basketball superstar was also part of the Pittsburg Panthers basketball team. Smith played as a power forward and started his NBA career playing for the Philadelphia 76ers. Smith was also member of the US National Team that won the gold medal in the 1986 FIBA World Championship.
On the other hand, Hugh Green, one of the greatest linebackers in the professional football league was also from the Pittsburg Panthers football team in the late 1970’s.
