They are professional basketball team that is based in Phoenix Arizona. The Phoenix Suns are part of the Pacific Division of the Western Conference in the National Basketball Association. In addition, the Phoenix Suns is the only team in their division that is not based in California. It was in the start of the 1968 to 1969 season that the team joined the NBA together with the Milwaukee Bucks. In the state of Arizona, they were the first major professional sports franchise. Moreover, their first 24 seasons was played at the Arizona Veterans Memorial Coliseum. The Phoenix Suns was established by an ownership group that was led by Karl Eller, Don Diamond, Richard Bloch and Don Pitt. Today, the team is having their arena at the US Airways Center in which they played from the season of 1992 and the team is being owned by Robert Sarver. The team is currently under the management of Lance Blanks. 

 

The Phoenix Suns is part of the NBA’s Pacific Division of the Western Conference and is based in Phoenix, Arizona. Having their home court in the Purple Palace or the US Airways Center, the team has won 6 Division titles in 1981, 1993, 1995, 2005, 2006 and 2007 and 2 Conference titles in 1976 and 1993.

 

The team has also been home to great basketball players and hall of famers. These are: Charles Barkley, Connie Hawkins, Gail Goodrich, and Jerry Colangelo.

 

It was in 1993 when Phoenix welcomed its arms to Charles Barkley. He came from the Philadelphia 76ers and was traded into the team. Barkley proved to be a very important player and in his first year in Suns, he won his first MVP award. It was also during this time that the team won their second Division title and their 2nd Conference title that landed them a shot at the NBA title. This was led by former coach Paul Westphal. He was a former Suns player that got to join the team in their first Finals appearance in 1976.

 

Currently, Suns is being led by head coach Alvin Gentry. The team has been in the league for forty-one years, and this had garnered them 19 season wins. The team continues to go for an NBA title. With Steve Nash, two time MVP winner; Grant Hill; Amar'e Stoudemire, 2003 Rookie of the Year winner, and the coach Gentry in the lead next season may see fruits to their years of great plays.
