Jared Odrick is a football player of the Miami Dolphins. Odrick plays Defensive Tackle and in the recent 2010 NFL Drafts was chosen by the Miami Dolphins. In college, he played for the Pennsylvania State University football team, Penn State Nittany Lions.
He went to the Lebanon High School where he was voted by Scout.com as 6th in the best defensive tackler in the US. He played for Coach Bill Giovino in the Big 33 Classic. As a senior he made 70 tackles and 10 TFL. In addition to that he also made 5 sacks and 3 blocked kicks in the same year. Earlier, during his junior year, he made 80 tackles and 18 TFL. He also made 8 sacks and 60 “pancake blocks”. In 2006, he also saw action in the US Army All-American Bowl, were he played alongside Maurice Evans and A. J. Wallace who later became his teammates in Penn State.
During his freshman year in Penn State in 2006, he was able to play in 12 games where he made four tackles and his first ever sack in his career. They won that game against Minnesota. Against Northwestern, he made two tackles both of them solo, while in the game against Michigan State he made a solo stop.
In his sophomore year, he was already in starting assignment and was a starter in 7 of 8 games; however he suffered with two broken bones in his left hand which effectively ended the season for him. He successfully overcame his injury to return to the team during his junior year. He became one of the nation’s best defensive players and has a first team All-Big Ten honors. According to sources, he was part of the reason why Penn State was included in three Top Ten defensive categories on the national level.
