Based in Oakland, California, the Oakland Athletics are a Major League Baseball team that is part of the Western Division of the American League. Established in 1901 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania as the Philadelphia Athletics, the A’s relocated twice before settling in California. The A’s have played their home games in O.co Coliseum since the 1968 season.
From the early years of their existence, the Oakland Athletics have had great success, starting with three Consecutive World Series wins starting in 1910 in Philadelphia. Following relocation to Kansas City, the A’s struggle to succeed, but with a final move to Oakland, California, the A’s once again found victory, bringing home another trifecta of World Series wins in 1972, 73 and 74.
