They are the varsity sports teams that are behalf of the University of Notre Dame in the 23 National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I intercollegiate athletic sports. The team’s name as the Notre Dame Fighting Irish was derived from the Irish immigrant soldier who was able to fight in the Civil War with the Union’s Irish Brigade. Some of the students of the University of Notre Dame also called them as the Domers. On the other hand, they also have other unofficial nicknames such as the Rovers and the Ramblers. There are some of their fans who also called them as the Terriers. There are many reviews that say that the team’s name as the Notre Dame Fighting Irish was born in the season of 1899. In addition, the fight song of the team is entitled the Notre Dame Victory March and their colors are gold and navy blue. Their mascot is named as Leprechaun.
