About New York Mets Memorabilia & Collectibles

They are professional baseball team that is based in borough of Queens in New York City. The New York Mets are part of the East Division of the Major League Baseball’s National League. Many of their fans also called them as the Amazins. It was in the season of 1962 that the New York Mets began to play. They were first introduced as component of the National League’s first opening out of the 20th century. The first two years that the New York Mets exists, they are playing their home games at the Polo Grounds that is located in the Upper Manhattan. In the season of 1964, they were then moved to the newly constructed Shea Stadium in Flushing Meadows. For the first time on April 11, 1962, the New York Mets was able to take the field against the St. Louis Cardinals. In the duration of their history, they were able to play in the World Series for four times.

Based in New York City, the New York Mets is a member of the East Division of the National League for the Major League Baseball. The team has been around since 1962 and has made its name prominent with a list of victories.

Topping the list is their championship title for the 1969 World Series. It was a surprise since they began this season with mediocrity. They were under their manager Gil Hodges at that time who knew well how to manage his team. Very remarkable in this season was when he assisted player Cleon Jones (left fielder) from the field to the bench after Jones failed to hustle. After the good gesture Hodges did, Jones progressed a lot and he never failed to make a hustle since then. Cleon Jones memorabilia items are available in our lineup of collectibles. Just make a good selection from caps to autographed baseball bats. It would be good to have one to remember this very encouraging part of the team's story.

Their second time to win as champions in the World Series was in 1986. This time, they started really well and gave everyone the feeling that they were going to win again. True enough, the New York Mets were really prepared to win. In fact, they were 20 times victors in their first 24 games. It was in Game 7 when they became the official champion after overcoming a number of three run deficits. They scored eight runs approaching the final three innings. It was 8-5 in favor of the Mets. The names who made a big mark were pitcher Jesse Orosco and Gary Carter who assisted Orosco while dropping on his knees after catching the ball. It was a very dramatic sports scene when Carter embraced Orosco during his painful fall. This image has become a collectible since then. You may want to collect one too.

The Mets also made it to the East Division becoming the champion five times including their victory in 2006.
