Beginning play in the 2000-01 season, the Minnesota Wild is an NHL team based out of St. Paul, Minnesota. Competing in the Western Conference’s Central Division, the Wild are the only major professional sports team in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area. The Wild play their home games at the Xcel Energy Center.
Though founded in the late 1990s, the Minnesota Wild took a few years to develop before they debuted in the NHL, but were off to a successful start. Making their first Stanley Cup playoff appearance in the 2002-03 season, the Wild surprised NHL fans everywhere with their play that almost ended with a Conference Championship. Though the team has yet to bring home any major titles or Stanley Cup wins, they remain a solid competitor season after season. Their success comes from the great players found on the roster, including players of the past like Marian Gaborik and Darby Hendrickson and current players like Zach Parise and Devan Dubnyk. Don’t rule out this team from the Midwest – they are hungry for a Stanley Cup trophy.
