The famous rival of the team is the San Francisco Giants and the New York Yankees. Moreover, they are said to be the first team in the Major League Baseball to employ and African American player. That player was Jackie Robinson who soon turned out to be the first African American to play for an MLB team.
Established in 1883 and is among the most popular teams in the Major League Baseball, LA Dodgers originated in Brooklyn, New York before they moved to Los Angeles prior to the 1958 season. The team is currently based in Los Angeles, California.
In 1890, the team became the first of only three major league teams to have won championships in various leagues in successive years. The Dodgers had successfully won pennants in the years 1941, 1947, 1949, 1952 and 1953. It was on April 18, 1958 when the team had played their first game in Los Angeles where they were able to beat the San Francisco Giants who were formerly named as New York Giants. They become the second-most profitable team in NL during the 1950s and in 1959 they had won in the World Series beating off the famous White Sox in six thrilling games and the Rickey Henderson autographed baseball cap and ball case was then made famous to the team’s fans. They once again won the World Series in the year 1965 gaining victory over the Minnesota Twins. The Los Angeles Dodgers had won the pennant in the following year.
