In 1997, when the Houston Oilers owner Bud Adams received official permission to move them to Tennesse, the city was left without professional football for the first time since 1959. But not for long - in 2002 the Houston Texans stepped on the NFL stage.
The name Houston Texans was taken from the former WFL franchise, now known as Louisiana's Shreveport Steamer. The owner describes the colors on the logo as "deep steel blue", "battle red" and "liberty white".
