Based in Oakland, California, the Golden State Warriors are professional basketball team that is taking part in the Pacific Division of the Western Conference in the
National Basketball Association. In the season of 1946, the team was established in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. When they were founded, the Golden State Warriors was named as the Philadelphia Warriors. They are charter member of the Basketball Association of America and the first owner of the team was Peter Tyrrell. He also owned the Philadelphia Rockets of the American Hockey League. He hired Eddie Gottlieb who is said to be the longtime basketball promoter in the area of Philadelphia. As a Philadelphia team, the Golden State Warriors won their first victory in 1946-47 seasons in the league’s inaugural. The team was renamed as the San Francisco Warriors in 1962 and was purchased by Frank Mieuli. For the 1971 to 1972 season, the team’s name was changed to Golden State Warriors.
