The Detroit Pistons are an NBA franchise based out of Auburn Hills, Michigan that plays in the Eastern Conference’s Center Division. The team was originally founded as the Fort Wayne Pistons of the National Basketball League before moving to the Motor City in 1957. Today, the team plays their home games at the Palace of Auburn Hills, one of the most iconic arenas in all of professional basketball.
The Pistons have undoubtedly been one of the most successful teams in the NBA throughout the past 25 years. Detroit is home to the legendary Bad Boys dynasty of the late 80's and early 90's. It was this team composed of players like Isiah Thomas, Bill Laimbeer, and Dennis Rodman that adapted a powerful bully-esque style of play that pro basketball had never seen before. The Bad Boys took home back-to-back NBA titles in 1989 and 1990. Detroit also dominated the 2000's, fielding one of the most well-rounded NBA Championship teams ever with their 2004 squad of Ben Wallace, Chauncey Billups, and Rip Hamilton. Today, the Pistons have re-built their franchise to return to basketball greatness with superstars like Josh Smith, Andre Drummond, and Brandon Jennings.
