The "Blake Street Bombers" was formed when the Rockies acquired outfielder Larry Walker. Along with Galarraga, Bichette and Vinny Castilla, the quartet hit 139 homers in the 1995 season. They won the debut game in their ballpark against the New York Mets 11-9, and proceeded to win seven of their first eight games of the season.

 

In 1997, Larry Walker became the first player to win the NL Most Valuable Player award, batting .366 with 49 homers and 130 RBI and won the first Gold Glove award in franchise history. They were named "Organization of the Year" by Baseball America in 2007 after they became a major-league best 20-8, after trailing 6 games and winning 14 of 15 games, including 11 in a row.
