The Alabama Crimson Tide is the official athletics program for the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Best known for their rich history and "Roll Tide!" chant, the Crimson Tide football team began play in 1892 and now competes in the SEC conference's Western division. Crimson Tide football proudly calls Bryant-Denny Stadium their home, the fifth largest college football stadium in the nation.
When NCAA football is discussed, no conversation lacks a mention of the Alabama Crimson Tide. For decades,'Bama football has been on top of the world, winning 15 national championships and producing 55 All-Americans. Tuscaloosa is also home to one of the most legendary coaches of any sport, Paul "Bear" Bryant. While Bryant is often alluded to as the greatest Alabama football coach of all-time, he may now have some company as current head coach Nick Saban has won three national championships with the team. Some of the greatest players in football history have at one time or another called Tuscaloosa their home. Legendary quarterbacks Bart Starr and Joe Namath along with Heisman winner Mark Ingram and Pro Bowler Julio Jones have all started their illustrious careers at the University of Alabama.
