Even with already nine instances of suffering concussions or mild traumatic brain injury, Chrebet still continued playing professional football. In 1999, he took a break due to a broken bone in his foot while in Jets’ exhibition finale against MIN. However, on a November 6, 2005 game versus the San Diego Chargers, Chrebet’s career came to a halt. He then had an official announcement of his retirement in a ceremony on June 2, 2006.
