Product Description
Tiger Stadium has stood on the Corner of Michigan and Trumbull in Detroit since 1912. The stadium was originally named Nevin Field for the owner of the team at the time it was built, and then Briggs Stadium, for a subsequent owner. Finally, in 1961, it was given the name that it will be forever recognized as: “Tiger Stadium”. Many of the games greatest players have called this famous park home, including: Ty Cobb, Hank Greenberg, and Al Kaline. Babe Ruth hit the 700th homer of his career at this stadium. It was the home field to the last 30 game winner in the majors, Denny McLain. Known for upper deck seats and cozy home run distances in left and right field and its cavernous center field, the park will be a lasting memory to the people of the motor city. The Tigers moved to a new park in 2000, and after several years of indecision, it appears that the park will be demolished in 2008, taking generations of memories along with it. Officially licensed MLB product.
