The team originally joined the AL in 1900 as the Baltimore Orioles. They moved to Manhattan in 1903 and were originally called the New York Highlanders before official adopting the name Yankees. EV: We’re actually a break-off of the YES Network message boards. Most of our core membership is from there, and when Gary started the forums, we all slowly migrated over. Most of us haven’t looked back.
