Jack Nicklaus is on the short list of the greatest golfers to ever play the game. ""The Golden Bear"" won 18 major championships during his illustrious career. He won the Masters six times U.S. Open four times British Open three times and PGA Championship five times. Nicklaus later played on the senior tour frequently winning such events as The Tradition U.S. Senior Open and PGA Seniors Championship. Nicklaus officially retired in 2005 but remains a beloved ambassador of the game and spends much of his time designing golf courses for his company Nicklaus Design. This New York Times reprint of the April 14 1986 edition celebrates Nicklaus' incredible come-from-behind win at the 1986 Masters a victory that made him the tournament's oldest-ever winner.
