Jack Tatum Memorabilia

Former American football defensive back, Jack Tatum has played in the National Football League for the Oakland Raiders and Houston Oilers. He was born in Cherryville, North Carolina on November 18, 1948.

 

Tatum had attended Passaic High School where he played as a running back, full back, and defensive back. The New Jersey Star-Ledger named him as one of the New Jersey’s top ten defensive players of the century in 1999. When he was in college, he studied at the Ohio State University Buckeyes team. He then played as a running back and he was eventually switched as a defensive back. He was first drafted by the Oakland Raiders during the first round of the 1971 National Football League Draft where he became the team’s 19th overall pick. 

 

He has played his first professional game against the Baltimore Colts. Tatum had his famous hit in 1978 during the preseason game against the New England Patriots. He was then traded to the Houston Oilers for Kenny King. Tatum retired after he was released by the Oilers in 1980.
