Orlando Magic
Orlando Magic jerseys only go back to the teams debut year in 1988. That first year had the typical on court struggles of an NBA expansion team, the team finished with the worst record in the league. But the Orlando fans showed uncommon support for the new team by selling out 33 consecutive home games averaging more than 15,000 per game for the season. The first home uniform had black pinstripes on a white background. Two big stars were integrated into the name Magic on the front of the uniform above the numbers. One star replaces the letter “A” and the other start dots the “I” in the word “Magic”. Prominent stars were also placed on the sides of the legs. The road uniforms were black with white pinstripes with the word “Orlando” replacing “Magic” on the front of the uniforms. A star replaces the “A” in “Orlando”. In 1994, the travelling Orlando Magic jerseys substituted a blue background for the black background. This era was capped by a 60-22 record and a trip to the NBA Finals in the 1995-1996 season only to lose to Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls.
For the team’s 10th anniversary in 1998, the Orlando Magic decided to make the first ever major changes in the look of the team uniforms by taking away the pinstripes. This made for a much cleaner look on the Magic uniforms. The Magic made these changes but kept the team’s name and the star graphics intact. The away uniforms dropped the word “Orlando” for “Magic”. The streaking ball logo was added to the right leg
For the Magic’s 15th anniversary, the team removed the stars and striping for an even cleaner look. The logo and numbers are white and trimmed out in black.
The current Orlando Magic jerseys go back to 2008. To commemorate the team’s 20th anniversary, the Magic went back to the original pinstripe look. Many aspects of the uniforms in the team’s history have been incorporated into the new design. For home games, they play in white uniforms with silver pinstripes while in the road games they play in blue uniforms with white pinstripes. The font has been updated with a more modern, formal look.
The 20th anniversary team also had a remarkable year on the court. Dwight Howard and J.J. Redick led the Magic all the way to the NBA Finals in 2008. Even though they were knocked off by Lakers in the finals, it was a special year for the Magic. Orlando Magic fans everywhere can be seen wearing a Dwight Howard jersey and talking about that remarkable season. Fans are looking to more great season with addition of Vince Carter.and the three point shooting of Rashard Lewis.
