New Jersey Devils

New Jersey Devils jerseyHistory of the Devils Jersey
The original New Jersey Devils jersey, logo, and colors were chosen in 1982. Those original colors were red, white, and green. Fans called them the “Christmas Colors” because of the think green and red strips on each sleeve of the jersey. In 1992 the team chose black to replace the green stripes, but the Devils played with the classic white and green jerseys for a St. Patrick’s Day game in 2010.
The home jersey was white and the road jersey was red until 2003 when the NHL switched the colors. Now, the home jersey is mostly red with a black stripe on each sleeve and one across the waist, while the road jersey is white with the same striping. The New Jersey Devils only have two jerseys and do not plan on adding a third like many other teams have. The team is proud of their traditional style and single identity with only 2 basic jerseys.
Certain players’ jerseys are available for purchase online, such as the Martin Brodeur jersey, the Scott Stevens jersey, and the Patrick Elias and Zach Parise jerseys.

The Mascot and Logo of the New Jersey Devils
The mascot for the team is the Jersey Devil which originates from a myth of the South Jersey shore. The mythological creature is seven feet tall with wings and hooves. However, the New Jersey Devils mascot looks like the classic red devil with horns. He is seven feet tall and devils.nhl.com states that he weighs “600 hockey pucks.” He is known for energizing the crowd and helping within the Newark Community.
The logo of the New Jersey Devils combines the letters N and J with horns on the top of the J and a tail at the bottom. The logo is red with a black outline and a circle around it. On both jerseys, the circle is white and has a black outline. Before the color change in 1992, the black outlining was green.

History and Highlights of the New Jersey Devils
The team was founded in Kansas City, Missouri in 1974, moved to Denver, Colorado for several seasons, and finally settled in New Jersey in 1982. Unfortunately, the team played badly for the first 13 seasons, but with a new coach and general manager they were able to enter the playoffs 20 out of 22 seasons. Over the years, the New Jersey Devils have focused on a defensive style of play, but with this new coach they are developing their offensive play as well.
The team won three Stanley Cups (1995, 2000, and 2003), and only the New York Islanders have won more Stanley Cups. Recently, the New Jersey Devils won the Atlantic Division season title for the ninth time in 2009-2010.
