Columbus Blue Jackets

Blue Jackets JerseyThe Columbus Blue Jackets jersey is unique in the sense that it has some very specific names for its colors. Their colors are union blue, goal red, capital silver and white. The Blue Jackets' name itself was inspired by Ohio's Civil War era. The name was chosen to represent the pride, the patriotism, and the rich heritage of Ohio's role in the Civil War. The current popular logo consists of a silver, blue and white star wrapped in a c-shaped Ohio pennant flag.
The Blue Jackets' first home jersey debuted in 2000 in union blue, with white numbers trimmed in goal red and white letters trimmed in capital silver. The neckline and waistband was goal red trimmed in white. The sleeves had a small strip of goal red with white stars on it on the outside of the cuff. The logo at that time was a red and white star studded, intertwined “CB”, with a yellow hockey stick as the back of the “B”, topped by a blue and silver star, and the whole thing outlined in capital silver. Two smaller versions of the logo topped each shoulder.
Their first road jersey was white with the large number on the back in union blue trimmed in goal red, and the lettering in union blue also. There were two smaller numbers at the top of each sleeve in white trimmed in goal red.  This jersey had a wide goal red, and a wide union blue stripe at the waistband with a thin strip of white in between each band.  There was also a union blue swath across the shoulders, and it had the same star studded band at the cuff.  The neckline was goal red trimmed in union blue.
The next few seasons saw very minor changes, with two exceptions—at the beginning of the 2010 season, a lighter blue band trimmed in capital silver was added to the sleeves and waistband, and their jersey had a vintage sweater-like design.  All the Blue Jackets' jerseys have “We fight, we march!” embroidered on the inside collar.
Another interesting addition to the Blue Jacket franchise came in the form of a cannon prior to the beginning of the 2007-08 season. This cannon is “fired” at all home games when the Blue Jackets either “take the ice” at the beginning of the game, score a goal, or win the game.  During its first season the cannon had the distinction of being fired 164 times.
Unfortunately, the Blue Jackets have had few winning seasons though, having only one rookie trophy winner (Steve Mason) to their record, and only one playoff appearance(2009).
Memorabilia from some of the Columbus Blue Jackets' more notable players includes Lyle Odelein pucks, Ray Whitney photos, Luke Richardson cards, Adam Foote hockey sticks, and Rick Nash jerseys.
