Colorado Avalanche

Colorado Avalanche jerseys Who knew that the Colorado Avalanche jerseys were going be valuable right away when the Quebec Nordiques moved their team to Denver and become the Colorado Avalanche? The move gave Colorado and Denver a second chance to host an NHL franchise after the original Rockies, the doormat of the NHL, had moved away to New Jersey after seven seasons. While it was true that the Avalanche had a very strong team when they arrived, including one of the best goalies of all time – many hard core hockey fans already have a Patrick Roy jersey. But hardly anyone was ready for what happened. The Avalanche went on to win the Stanley Cup in their first year, giving Denver their first NHL championship ever and becoming the first team in any major professional sport to win a championship in the first season after relocation.
The teams logo is a large letter “A” with snow wrapping around it representing an avalanche. The Avalanche’s alternate logo is a hairy footprint of a Yeti or a Bigfoot. The Colorado Avalanche jersey colors are burgundy, black, steel blue, silver and white. The Avalanche home jersey has the burgundy background with blue stripes going down the shoulders and arms. There are blue panels on the side of the torso. The Avalanche logo is in the middle of the jersey. The alternate logo is located on the sides of the uniform. The Avalanche road jersey is a mirror image of the home jersey with a white background and burgundy stripes going down the shoulders and the outside of the arms. There are burgundy panels on the sides of the torso. Except for some added striping, the new Reebok EDGE uniforms are barely distinguishable from the previous jerseys.
A third alternative Avalanche jersey was introduced in 2001. It was mostly burgundy with the word Colorado placed diagonally across the chest. The jersey has stripes around the middle of the arms. The primary “A” logo is located on each shoulder.
In addition to the Stanley Cup title the Colorado Avalanche won in 1996, they won another in 2001. The Avalanche has never reached the Stanley Cup Finals without winning the Stanley Cup. The Avalanche has reached the Conference Finals 6 times and been the Division Champions 8 times. They have appeared in the playoffs 12 times including a stretch of 10 consecutive appearances.
Two of the Colorado Avalanche are in the NHL Hall of Fame: Defenseman Ray Borque, 1990 - 2001 and Goalie Patrick Roy, 1995 - 2003. The Colorado Avalanche has retired three numbers with the jerseys on display in the Pepsi Center: Center Joe Sakic, Jersey #19, 1995 – 2009; Goalie Patrick Roy, Jersey #33, 1995 – 2003; Defenseman Ray Borque, Jersey #77, 1990 – 2001.
