Records reveal that it was only after the Second World War that Yogi was noticed on a much larger scale. As a humble citizen he took part in the war and also in the D-day mission where the invasions at Omaha Beach happened, he also served his duty in Italy and even in north Africa and then got to come back home to the United States. Post the 1945 scenario Yogi made his comeback to the game of Baseball joining the New London club in Connecticut. He was then spotted by the Giants Manager Mel Ott who watched him perform at the games and made him an offer of $50,000 as a contract to rope him with the Yankee’s. Sports records show that he got to work as an apprentice in 1946 with the Newark Bears who were with the International League prior to his career start which happened somewhere in the latter half of the 1940’s.
