 Winston Kinnard Garland was born December 19, 1964 in Gary, Indiana. He is a former professional NBA player who played as point guard. He studied college at Southeastern Community College where he also became a player for two seasons and played the next two seasons at the Missouri State University.

 

His NBA career started when he was chosen by Milwaukee Bucks in the 1987 NBA Draft where he finished at 40th among overall pick. He played for the teams Golden State Warriors, Houston Rockets, Denver Nuggets, Los Angeles Clippers and Minnesota Timberwolves. He played in NBA for 7 seasons for the 5 teams mentioned.

 

Garland was able to play a total of 511 games and scored a huge 4, 799 points. He became a member of the Warriors where he played 79 games with an average of 14.5 points per game. A point guard player, he was recognized as the first player to make triple-double in just five years.

 

According to reviews, Garland also became an asset in Italian basketball scene for Benetton Treviso. He shared the same high school, Roosevelt High School, with Dick Barnett and Glenn Robinson. An Indiana Basketball Hall of Famer, Garland became part of the Silver Anniversary Team in 2007.
