I'm sure 'fast Willy Parker' is a very talented young man and I used to think I would like to have some of his memorbilia for my eight year old son However, my opinion of him has changed over the past month or so.
His Grandmother ( a very precious lady named Mary who lost her leg to gangreen), was my mother's roommate in a nursing home (my mother recently came home). Mr. Parker has been back in North Carolina for quite some time now but has yet to go see his Grandmother even though family members continue to tell her he's coming to see her...it's heartbreaking.
Mr. Parker, please go see your grandmother...she is so very proud of you!

Pittsburgh Steelers running back, Willie Parker was born in North Carolina on November 11, 1980. He was nicknamed “Fast Willie” because of his ability for excellent speed during his plays.
Willie Parker started as an undrafted free agent in 2004. He served as a backup player of Jerome Bettis, Duce Staley, and Verron Haynes in the 2004 National Football League season. Fortunately by the year 2005, Parker was given a very good opportunity to show off his talents when both Bettis and Staley declared that they cannot make it to the season’s first part due to their injuries. With 161 rushing yards on 22 attempts, he was able to impress Bill Cower, their coach, and Jeff Fisher, their rival’s coach as well. On their game against the Houston Texas, Willie Parker gained 100+ yard making Cower express, “He’s here to stay.” He also established the Super Bowl history’s longest rushing play with a 75-yard touchdown. The same performance gave the Steelers a lead of 14-7 over the Seattle Seahawks.
By 2006, Parker already signed a four-year major deal with the Steelers amounting to $13.6 million. In December 7th of the same year, Parker broke the rushing record of the All Time Steelers for a single game with a 233-yard on 32 carries. It was Frenchy Fequa who set the previous record.
