Willie Gault was a wide receiver in the National Football League with teams Chicago Bears and Los Angeles Raiders during his career. His greatest asset according to many was his pure straight line swiftness. He was also established as the primary long-pass threat player who belonged in a team acknowledged as one of history’s best defensive teams. He was also with the Chicago Bears when the team won the Super Bowl XX with a record of 4 receptions for 129 yards and a four kickoff-return for 49 yards.
Gault attended the University of Tennessee and became a star in both fields of football and athletics. He was a member of the 4x10 meters relay team which had successfully set a record. He was also part of the 110 meter hurdler that was unfortunately unable to join the 1980 Summer Olympics due to the United States’ act of boycotting the said event. In 1982, he appeared as the All-American wide receiver.
In the early 1990s, Gault retired from playing football and rather pursued a Hollywood acting career. In The Pretender, an NBC series, he portrayed the role as Willie Sweeper. Moreover, he also appeared as a sportscaster in Nickelodeon through the program entitled Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide.

He was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the 1st round (18th overall) of the 1983 NFL Draft.
