Will Venable is an American professional baseball player and is currently playing as right fielder for the San Diego Padres. He was born in Greenbrae, California. Venable took his college education at Princeton University, a school that Venable chooses not for its academics, but because of its tradition of basketball excellence. Venable was qualified to participate in the NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Championship Tournament. Venable did not play baseball during his freshman year; however, his father had directed him to the Princeton University baseball team coach Scott Bradley, during his recruiting visit.

 

He was listed at 6 ft. 2 in. and 210 lbs. He both bat and threw left handed. After graduating from Princeton, Venable made a few stints in the minor leagues before he shifted to the majors. Among his team in the minor leagues were the Arizona League Padres, Eugene Emeralds, Fort Wayne Wizards, San Antonio Missions and the Portland Beavers. Venable started his professional baseball career after he was drafted by the San Diego Padres during the 2005 amateur draft where he was the seventh round pick of the team. He formally signed on June 17, 2005. Venable made his pro debut on August 29, 2008
