Wilkin Chal Ruan is a free agent professional baseball player in the Major League Baseball. He was born on September 18, 1978 in Ramon Santana, Dominican Republic. He went to Guaymate for high school.

 

Ruan started his professional career after signing with the Montreal Expos as an undrafted amateur free agent in November 15, 1996. He played for the Expos Dominican and then was placed in the rookie team in 1998. He joined the Gulf Coast Expos and then the Cape Fear Crocs in 1999. In 2001, he played with the Jupiter Hammerheads and then was promoted to the Harrisburg Senators. On March 2002, he was traded off to the Los Angeles Dodgers together with Guillermo Mota and started playing with the Jacksonville Suns and then the Las Vegas 51s. Because of his good numbers, he finally made his MLB debut on September 1, 2001 in a game against the St. Louis Cardinals. He made his first major league hit in a game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. He was released by the Dodgers in 2004 and then was signed as a free agent by the Kansas City Royals where he was sent to the minor leagues. He then rejoined the Dodgers and upon entering free agency, signed with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2008. At present, Ruan has a .231 batting average and 5 runs batted in.
