Whitey Wietelmann (full name: William Frederick Wietelmann; no nicknames) played shortstop, second baseman and third baseman from 1939 until 1947 for the Boston Bees, Boston Braves and Pittsburgh Pirates. He played for the Bees from 1939 - 1940, Braves from 1941 - 1946 and Pirates in 1947. Over 9 seasons, he played 580 games, hit 7 home runs, drove in 170 runs, and stole 14 bases. Born on March 15, 1919 in Zanesville, OH, Wietelmann stood 6' 0" and weighed 170 lb. He attended Zanesville (Zanesville, OH) (All Transactions) high school. His debut was on September 6, 1939 and he played his final game on September 18, 1947. Common misspellings of his name include William Frederick Whitey whity Wietelmann.
