Wesley Carter “Wes” Welker plays as a wide receiver for the New England Patriots of the National Football League. He is from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and was born on May 1, 1981. Welker began his professional career when he signed as an undrafted free agent for the San Diego Chargers in 2004. He was then released and then signed with the Miami Dolphins. In a game against the New England Patriots, he set a record of being the 2nd player to return a kickoff and a punt, kick a field goal and an extra point, and making a tackle all in 1 game. He continued to play for the Dolphins and even had one of his best seasons in 2006. By 2007, he signed as a free agent with the New England Patriots. He surpassed his best season with the Dolphins during his first season as a Patriot. He recorded career highs thrice; one in a game against the Dallas Cowboys, another in a game against the Dolphins, and another in a game against the Philadelphia Eagles. He continued setting career records and was even voted to his 1st AP All- Pro Team second team. As of the 2009 season, Welker has 442 receptions, 4, 809 receiving yards, and 16 receiving touchdowns.
