Walt McKechnie (full name: Walt McKechnie; no nicknames) played center from 1968 until 1983 for the Minnesota North Stars, California Golden Seals, Boston Bruins, Detroit Red Wings, Washington Capitals, Cleveland Barons, Toronto Maple Leafs and Colorado Rockies. He played for the North Stars from 1968 - 1971, Golden Seals from 1972 - 1974, Bruins in 1975, Red Wings from 1975 - 1983, Capitals in 1978, Barons in 1978, Leafs from 1979 - 1980 and from 1980 - 1981. Over 16 seasons, he played 955 games, scored 214 goals, and made 392 assists. Born in London, Ontario on June 19, 1947, McKechnie stands 6-2 and weighs 195 lbs. He was drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 1st round (6th overall) of the 1963 NHL Amateur Draft.
