Vern Stephens (full name: Vernon Decatur Stephens; Junior and Buster) played shortstop and third baseman from 1941 until 1955 for the St. Louis Browns, Boston Red Sox, Chicago White Sox and Baltimore Orioles. He played for the Browns from 1941 - 1953, Red Sox from 1948 - 1952, White Sox from 1953 - 1955 and Orioles from 1954 - 1955. Over 15 seasons, he played 1720 games, hit 247 home runs, drove in 1001 runs, and stole 25 bases. Born on October 23, 1920 in McAllister, NM, Stephens stood 5' 10" and weighed 185 lb. He attended Polytechnic (Long Beach, CA) high school. His debut was on September 13, 1941 and he played his final game on June 30, 1955. Over his career, Stephens made $25,000.
