Andrew Tyler Hansbrough was born on November 3, 1985 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. He is a professional basketball player who attended Poplar Bluff High School in Missouri. As a high school basketball athlete, he led his team in several Missouri state championships. He had an average of 28.2 points and 13.4 rebounds and became undoubtedly popular. He played college basketball at University of Carolina where he led in terms of points with 18.9 PPG. As a senior college player, he led the ACC with 21.1 PPg and ranked 4th in free throw percentage and 6th in offensive rebounds. He was 6th in field goal percentage and was the 7th player in rebounding. He had a 28 straight free throw record and shot at 84.9 percent from the free throw line. He and Balke Griffin tied as 2009 AP Player of the Year. He was also named to the Atlantic Coast Conference All Conference Team and was named as Freshman of the Year in 2006. He was also 2008 ACC Player of the Year and his jersey number 50 was retired in a game.
According to sources, he was drafted to the National Basketball Association by the Indiana Pacers in 2009. He was selected as a 13th overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft. Unfortunately, Hansbrough had an unimpressive rookie season because of a number of injuries.
