 Tony Hill is a retired professional football player who played in the National Football League. Hill played solely for the Dallas Cowboys. Hill became active in the NFL from 1977 all the way to 1986. Born in San Diego, California, Hill decided to attend Stanford University. He went to Long Beach Polytechnic High School where he was the quarterback and then to Stanford where he was a wide receiver. Throughout his entire stay in college, Hill was able to record a total of 2,225 receiving yards and 140 catches.

 

During 1977 NFL Draft, Hill was selected by the Dallas Cowboys and played a punt returner as well as back up wide receiver during his rookie season. However, Hill was able to get the starting wide receiver position in the1978 season and was dubbed as “The Thrill” because of his efficiency as a receiver.

 

The Cowboys were able to clinch the Super Bowl XII title after defeating the Denver Broncos during Hill’s rookie year in the NFL. After teammate Drew Pearson retired in 1983, Hill became the top ranked receiver in the league. Throughout Hill’s stay in the NFL, he was able to participate in three Pro Bowls: in 1978, 1979 and 1985.

Tony Hill (fullname: Leroy Anthony Hill Jr.; no nicknames) played from 1977 until 1986 for the Dallas Cowboys. He played 141 games, starting 81 of those. Born in San Diego, CA on June 23, 1956, Hill stands 6'2 and weighs 199 lbs. He attended college at Stanford. He was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the 3rd round (62nd overall) of the 1977 NFL Draft.
