Gonzalez began his professional career when he was chosen by the Kansas City Chiefs in the NFL Draft of 1997. The team doesn’t have any regrets in selecting Gonzalez because of the latter’s outstanding performance in every game. He was even offered a five-year extension of his contract with the team for which he accepted last January 12, 2007. Gonzalez was referred to by many as one of the best performing tight ends of NFL.
