Known in the ice hockey industry as goaltender,
Tony Esposito was born in Salt Ste. Marie, Ontario on April 23, 1943. Esposito played for the Michigan Tech University in the college hockey team. His first game as a professional was for the
Montreal Canadiens in the 1968-69 season. Through an “intra-league draft,” Esposito was acquired by the Chicago Blackhawks from the Montreal. Playing for the Blackhawks, he enjoyed an outstanding season as he set an NHL record by having 15 shutouts. Esposito was then rewarded with both Calder and Vezina Trophies and even made it to the first All-Star team, too.
