Tommy Byrne (full name: Thomas Joseph Byrne; no nicknames) played pitcher from 1943 until 1957 for the New York Yankees, St. Louis Browns, Washington Senators and Chicago White Sox. He played for the Yankees from 1943 - 1957, Browns from 1951 - 1952, Senators in 1953 and White Sox in 1953. Over 13 seasons, he started 170 games, won 85 games, struck out 766 batters, and had a 4.11 ERA. Born on December 31, 1919 in Baltimore, MD, Byrne stood 6' 1" and weighed 182 lb. He attended City College (Baltimore, MD) high school. His debut was on April 27, 1943 and he played his final game on September 21, 1957.
