Tom Sturdivant (full name: Thomas Virgil Sturdivant; Smoke and Snake) played pitcher from 1955 until 1964 for the New York Yankees, Kansas City Athletics, Boston Red Sox, Washington Senators, Pittsburgh Pirates, Detroit Tigers and New York Mets. He played for the Yankees from 1955 - 1959, Athletics from 1959 - 1964, Red Sox in 1960, Senators in 1961, Pirates from 1961 - 1963, Tigers in 1963 and Mets in 1964. Over 10 seasons, he started 101 games, won 59 games, struck out 704 batters, and had a 3.74 ERA. Born on April 28, 1930 in Gordon, KS, Sturdivant stood 6' 0" and weighed 170 lb. He attended Capitol Hill (Oklahoma City, OK) high school. His debut was on April 14, 1955 and he played his final game on June 21, 1964. Over his career, Sturdivant made $30,000.
