Tom Seaver was born on November 17, 1944 in Fresno California. He entered the major leagues in 1967 and announced his retirement in 1986.
Known to the public as “Tom Terrific” and “The Franchise,” Seaver is a National Baseball Hall of Fame Inductee (1992) making the Tom Seaver autographed baseball a gem, to numerous fans. His pitching power was sharpened when he entered the University of Southern California. In 1996, he was a first pick in the overall draft by the
Atlanta Braves. However, he failed to play in the team as his contract was voided by Baseball Commissioner William Eckert due to some reasons Seaver’s father found unfair. Seaver then received his first National League Cy Young Award, followed by a Hickok Belt as Top Professional Athlete of the Year, and a Sportsman of the Year recognition given by the Sports Illustrated magazine.
Seaver continued reaping success in his baseball career and gained more recognition. After playing with the Mets, he also played for the
Cininnati Reds, Chicago White Sox and
Boston Red Sox.
