About Thomas Jones Autographed Memorabilia & Collectibles
Playing in the National Football League as New York Jets’ running back is American football player Thomas Jones. He was born in Big Stone Gap, Virginia on August 19, 1978. Jones dominated college football while playing for the Virginia Cavaliers by making numerous rushing records. He made mark not only in his team but in the Atlantic Coast Conference as well. Finishing with eight conferences and 15 team records, Jones is unarguably one of Virginia’s prides.
The number of rushes he made ranked fourth as highest in the conference’s history. Jones was not only a superb athlete in college; add to that he excelled in his academics by attaining a psychology degree in just three years. Thus, in 1999 he was already competing as graduate student. Jones was a seventh overall pick during the 2000 National Football League Draft acquired by the Arizona Cardinals. For three years with the Cardinals, he has rushed for 1, 264 yards and made 9 touchdowns. But due to several injuries he went through, he was only able to finish one full season for the team.
In 2003, Jones was traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and then signed as a free-agent in 2004 with the Chicago Bears. On March 5, 2007, during the 2007 NFL Draft he was traded by the Bears to the New York Jets. Culminating the trade, he signed a four-year, $20 million extension contract with the Jets.
