Tex Carleton (full name: James Otto Carleton; no nicknames) played pitcher from 1932 until 1940 for the St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Cubs and Brooklyn Dodgers. He played for the Cardinals from 1932 - 1934, Cubs from 1935 - 1938 and Dodgers in 1940. Over 8 seasons, he started 202 games, won 100 games, struck out 808 batters, and had a 3.91 ERA. Born on August 19, 1906 in Comanche, TX, Carleton stood 6' 1" and weighed 180 lb. He attended high school. His debut was on April 17, 1932 and he played his final game on September 23, 1940. Common misspellings of his name include James Otto Tex Carleton.
