About Ted Abernathy Memorabilia & Collectibles

A right-handed relief pitcher, Ted Wade Abernathy played for the Major League Baseball from 1955 to 1972. Born in North Carolina, Ted Abernathy had indulged himself playing for eight MLB teams all throughout his career.

At a young age of 22, Abernathy signed up for the big league as a member of the Washington Senators wherein he played from 1955 to 1957 and in 1960. In 1966, Abernathy already had played for the Milwaukee Braves, Cleveland Indians, and Chicago Cubs. The Cubs released Abernathy in exchange for Lee Thomas, the outfielder for the Boston Red Sox that time, making him an official member of the Atlanta Braves. The Cincinnati Reds, Chicago Cubs, St. Louis Cardinals, and Kansas City Royals were the teams he participated in.

A shoulder surgery led him hanging by the thread; thus pushing him to alter his pitching strategy and acing the submarine pitch.
